Triumph Gallery, Moscow
Triumph Gallery presents a project called Blind Date, which is the first solo exhibition of the famous Estonian artist Kaido Ole, who will show hisdifferent paintings created for the last 6 years.
A search for indentity and comparing oneself to the history of art has become the main subject of the painter’s art since he graduated from The Tallin Academy of Arts. Since the beginning of the 90s, he has gone through a tough and interesting period of his life, say, from the pure formalism to the non-objective painting with certain elements of surrealism and kitsch, thus forming his own artistic language. The characters with spherical heads, sophisticated structures, balancing on one wheel — all those nomadic motifs are seen in all Ole’s art. On the one hand, they are a metaphor of the world’s fragility and, at the same time, a sort of social satire.
Kaido Ole (b. 1963) lives and works in Tallinn, Estonia. He is being exhibited since 1989. Ole graduated from The Estonian Academy of Arts, where he was studying design and painting from 1982 to 1992. In 2003, he represented Estonia at the national pavilion as a part of Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art with Marko Mäetamm. Kaido Ole is also a laureate of numerous awards, including Konrad Mägi Awards (2012), The Estonian Cultural Foundation Annual Awards (1999, 2005) and Kristjan Raud Annual Awards (1998). His works are at public collections of Estonia, Belgium, Latvia and Austria. He is in the list of Thames & Hudson 100 artists of the future.
