Dmitry Gretsky

Dmitry Gretsky was born in St. Petersburg in 1970. In 1989 he finished the St. Petersburg Art School named after N. K. Roerich. After that he was working there as a teacher for two years. In 1995 he graduated from the Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after I.E. Repin. In 1999, together with Eugene Katz, founded the Artville Academy of Art and Design in Toronto (Canada) and taught there until 2009. Nowdays the artist lives and works both in Toronto and St. Petersburg. Since 1989, he has participated in various exhibitions of contemporary art. Since 1993 he has been holding solo exhibitions. Among all the artist’s creativity, three exhibitions stand out clearly. These are two his independent expositions and one work with the artist Yevgenia Katz. The REBRAND REMBRANDT exhibition was an experiment that began with the rebranding of the painting "The Rifle Company of Captain Frans Banning Kok and Lieutenant Willem van Reitenburg", painted by Rembrandt in 1642, with a change in the ideology of the work itself. The works of Dmitriy Gretsky can be found in many famous museum collections as well as private: in the State Russian Museum, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the EKATERINA Culture Foundation, etc. Dmitry Gretsky has numerous awards and nominations. Also he’s a member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists of Russia.
