Roman Mokrov

Roman Mokrov is a photographer and media artist, born in 1986 in the city of Elektrougli, Moscow Region.

 

Graduated from Moscow State Regional University (in 2010 he received his Master Degree of Psychology, with his diploma: Anxiety Reduction by Sound-Sound-Resonant Painting, Free Workshops School of Modern Art at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA) and Institute of Contemporary Art Problems (ICA Moscow) in 2011.

 

The artist reveals the phenomenon of absurdity in Russian reality and actively explores the symbolic field and mythology of Nemoskva — small provincial or regional towns — in search of an elusive modern identity.

 

In 2012, with his work Endless History, he became one of the finalists and received a special prize of the All-Russian competition in the field of contemporary art Innovation, as well as a special mention to the jury of the international video art festival Now & Then’12. Nominee for the Kandinsky Prize (Young Artist. Project of the Year) 2012, 2016, nominee for the magazine Made in Russia Prize in 2014. Laureate of the Sergey Kuryokhin Prize (Best Media Object) 2014. Resident of the Garage workshops in 2019.
