Vladimir Dubossarsky

Born in Moscow in 1964. In 1984, he graduated from the Moscow Art School of 1905, and from Surikov Art Institute in 1991.   During that time he was actively involved in running the squat gallery on Trekhprudny Lane. From 1994 to 2014, he worked in a creative duo with Alexander Vinogradov. They were the first to combine Soviet realism and pop art in their paintings, to bring together the heroes of mass culture and the expanse of Russian crop fields. Works by Dubossarsky & Vinogradov were exhibited in London, Paris, Vienna, New York, Berlin, Sao Paulo, and in the Russian pavilion at the Venice Biennale in 2003. Their best paintings are held in collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg), Museum of Modern Art (Avignon), Pompidou Centre (Paris), Museum of Applied Arts, Secession (Vienna), and in numerous private collections. In 2015, Dubossarsky made several personal exhibitions and went on to have a solo career.
